This is not the kind of issue and publicity MS needs for the Windows Phone. Already behind the competition, MS AND it’s partners need to execute flawlessly. Public perception is incredibly important when it comes to establishing Windows Phone as a credible competitor.

At least MS is being up front and acknowledging the problem, and not just passing the buck. I’m glad to see JoeB communicating with the community. Here is an excerpt from a blog post he wrote…

Many of you are making critical comments here which are certainly fair. First, I was wrong when I said “most people have received the February update.” There are many of you who have yet to receive it, and I don’t blame you for speaking up and pointing out my mistake.

Let’s hope this little fiasco becomes a distant memory. I mean, it’s not as though Apple hasn’t had issues or update problems with the iDevices. It’s just that consumers quickly and easily forgive Apple, unlike MS, who is still perceived as a brutish, sloppy behemoth slowly being taken down by the competition. Consumers and critics seem to root for Apple. Who is rooting for Microsoft?
